PICU

Yesterday I was incharge in PICU. My first time. With my collegue. Also his first time. Not really familiar with the place and working flow here. Both of us doing morning round. PICU aka chronic patient. Means that its really challenging to do thorough fast round and its your first time seeing those patient. Sadly enough me, my collegue and my MO was scolded by specialist. Yeah! Really sad 😭

Periods and Ramadan 😥

Some activities for my sisters who're having menstruation in Ramadan. hope it benefits you -

1.First of all - say Alhamdulillah, instead of saying damn period for it's blessing bcz you're getting reward every single moment for obeying Allah's order by not keeping fast.

2. Start everything with 'Bismillah'

3. Memorise 99 names of Allah.

4. You may feel upset for being unable to read Qur'an but read surah Ikhlas - it's equivalent to one-third of the Qur’aan. If you recite 3 times at once, it'll be equal to completing whole Qur'an. read 21 times, if can read more then ما شاء الله‎.

5. Do lots of dhikir & send lots of durood upon  Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

6. Do istigfar - Astagfirullah!

7. Memorise short duas with meaning [Broken Verses]

8. Read hadiths.

9. Listen to Quran-Tafseer or Islamic lectures.

10. Read Qur'an's translation in your mother-tongue.

11. Read Biography of Prophet Muhammad Sallahu Alaihiwasallam.

12. Story of Ummul Muminin & Female Sahabiyaat or Sahaba e kiraam.

13. Give dawah to sisters at home or outside at school/college & share ilm about islam with them.

14. Refrain from gibah & namimah for it will take all your good deeds.

15. Learn the sunnah's of Prophet & revive it.
i.e : give salam to younger one.

16. Teach your siblings how to do wudhu, perform salah including Taraweeh with new new duas & teach them the proper way to wear hijab.

17. Tell the kids to keep fast if they are almost 10 years old or up to that {Guide them to obey the order of Allah}

18. Encourage them to do good to others, teach them good manners & politeness.

19. Cook food for the fasting people or help your mother to cook food or set the table for iftaar.

20. Give on charity i.e :
even if it's a smile or an act of kindness.

21. Call everyone for having sehri.

22. Make Niyyah to please Allah in everything you do & good deeds are added in your book of deeds.

23. Tag your sisters who can benifit from this post....Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who guides to something good has a reward similar to the one doing it" (Muslim).

In Ramadan Good Deeds Multiplies 70 Times , سُـبْـحَـانَ ٱلله, don't miss golden chance to be rewarded.

healthy is wealth

Health is wealth. I strongly believe  with this statement. Recently i took blood to screen myself. I was shocked with the result of my cholesterol. I didn't gain much weight but I had unhealthy lifestyle after graduating. I seldomly exercise, always eating fastfood, junkfood and late night meals, less vegie and fruit in my diet.

Then i came with the solution that I found from other website. I should do this!

1. Eat heart-healthy foods

A few changes in your diet can reduce cholesterol and improve your heart health:
  • Reduce saturated fats. Saturated fats, found primarily in red meat and full-fat dairy products, raise your total cholesterol. Decreasing your consumption of saturated fats can reduce your low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol — the "bad" cholesterol.
  • Eliminate trans fats. Trans fats, sometimes listed on food labels as "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil," are often used in margarines and store-bought cookies, crackers and cakes. Trans fats raise overall cholesterol levels. The Food and Drug Administration has banned the use of partially hydrogenated vegetable oils by Jan. 1, 2021.
  • Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids don't affect LDL cholesterol. But they have other heart-healthy benefits, including reducing blood pressure. Foods with omega-3 fatty acids include salmon, mackerel, herring, walnuts and flaxseeds.
  • Increase soluble fiber. Soluble fiber can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Soluble fiber is found in such foods as oatmeal, kidney beans, Brussels sprouts, apples and pears.
  • Add whey protein. Whey protein, which is found in dairy products, may account for many of the health benefits attributed to dairy. Studies have shown that whey protein given as a supplement lowers both LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol as well as blood pressure.

2. Exercise on most days of the week and increase your physical activity

Exercise can improve cholesterol. Moderate physical activity can help raise high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol. With your doctor's OK, work up to at least 30 minutes of exercise five times a week or vigorous aerobic activity for 20 minutes three times a week.
Adding physical activity, even in short intervals several times a day, can help you begin to lose weight. Consider:
  • Taking a brisk daily walk during your lunch hour
  • Riding your bike to work
  • Playing a favorite sport

3. Mental health

  • Get enough sleep dailyCDC recommends the following by age group (naps inclusive); 12-18 hours from birth to 2 months, 14-15 hours from 3-11 months of age, 12-18 hours for 1-3 years of age, 11-13 hours for 3-5 years of age, 10-11 hours for 5-10 years of age, eight and a half to nine and a half hours for 10-17 years of age and those 18 and above need seven to nine hours of sleep. Elderly people need about seven to nine hours but do not sleep as deeply and may awaken at night or wake early, so naps (like kids need) allow them to accumulate the total of seven to nine hours of sleep.
  • Take a walk and reflect on what you see and hear at least several times per week.
  • Try something new and often (eat a new food, try a different route to work, go to a new museum display).
  • Do some mind exercises (read, do a puzzle occasionally during the week).
  • Try to focus on a process intensely and complete a segment of it over one to several hours, then take a break and do something relaxing (walk, exercise, short nap).
  • Plan to spend some time talking with other people about different subjects.
  • Try to make some leisure time to do some things that interest you every week (hobby, sport).
  • Learn ways to say "no" when something occurs that you do not want to do or be involved with.
  • Have fun (go on a trip with someone you love, go shopping, go fishing; do not let vacation time slip away).
  • Let yourself be pleased with your achievements, both big and small (develop contentment).
  • Have a network of friends; those with strong social support systems lead healthier lives.
  • Seek help and advice early if you feel depressed, have suicidal thoughts, or consider harming yourself or others.
  • Avoidance behavior is another key to healthy living

RAMADHAN MADRASAH HATI

Alhamdulillah. Berpeluang sekali lagi menikmati madrasah Ramadhan. Ramadhan. Tetap datang walau tidak diundang, akan pergi biarpun dihalang.

Maka persiapan apa yang telah kau lakukan untuk Ramadhan kali ini? Kerana esok belum tentu kamu bernyawa duhai diri.

Solat. Bak kata Allayarham ustaz Hassan din, solat itu umpama akaun. Tidak berguna kebajikan lain jika tidak solat. Apa yang membezakan muslim dan non muslim adalah solat. Jaga kualiti solat. Ingat tahap ketenangan yang kamu mahukan bergantung kepada solatmu.

Puasa. Ramadhan sinonim dengan puasa. Apa erti puasa? Menahan diri daripada melakukan perbuatan yang membatalkan puasa mulai terbit hingga terbenam sang matahari. Puasa melibatkan puasa zahir dan puasa batin. Ramai berjaya puasa zahir. Namun berapa kerat yang berjaya puasa batin. Menahan lidah dari mengumpat dan mencela. Menahan hati daripada sifat-sifat mazmum. Menahan mata daripada melihat perkara yang melalaikan dan merosakkan pahala. Menahan telinga daripada mendengar umpatan dan kejian. Janganlah kempis pahala puasa disebabkan oleh nafsu serakahmu.

Zakat. Fitrah adalah wajib. Harta pula bergantung kepada keinginanmu. Sejauh mana kamu mahu menyucikan hartamu.

Sedekah. Hartamu yang hakiki adalah yang engkau makan dan yang disedekahkan kepada yang memerlukannya. Sedekah juka kunci pintu rezeki. Yakin dengan janji Allah.

Membaca al-Quran. Inilah peluang untuk memperbanyakkan bacaan al-Quran. Bulan lain kamu begitu sibuk. Maka ambil dan rebutlah peluang mencuri masa dan meluangkannya untuk membaca dan lebih baik lagi mentadabbur al-Quran.

Zikir dan selawat. Hati yang hidup adalah yang sentiasa mengingati kepada Allah dan rasulNya.

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
Ya Allah, Tolong aku untuk menyebut nama-Mu, bersyukur kepada-Mu dan beribadah yang baik untuk-Mu

Ini adalah antara doa yang dianjurkan oleh kekasih Allah.

Semoga Ramadhan kali ini memberi erti baru dalam hidup kita dan berjaya mendidik hati kita ke arah yang lebih baik. InsyaAllah.

Baby2 i'm sorry 2-1st intubation experience

Hai, baby2 i yang comel2. Tlg jangan sakit yee..

Another oncall 'best' last night. Being in charge in active ward, need to clerk new case.

Arrived at 2000H. Noted 2 new cases. Alright! Because 2 Ho incharge in active ward. So i clerked that AGE case. Then noted specialist was doing round. But still not finished clerk. So just continue clerking that case. After that i follow the round. Baru follow sikit and then noted another case admitted to other ward. My partner was writing specialist review. By hook and by crook, i have to go and clerk that case laa. So just clerk that case. I labelled as bronchiolitis. My lungs finding was clear. So my sp ask on what justification did i put bronchiolitis? Hahaha. I said because of prolonged PEP in ED. She changed to viral URTI

Finished specialist round, got sooooo many blood c+s and branulla required. Sero nk jerik tiok. With pt refuse iv line insertion, padahal baru bagi iv abx 1 dose. Finished do all those at 0145H. Then solat isya and planned to take nap jap. Tak sempat solat dah dipanggil clerk another new case. 2 cases at the same time. My friend clerk 1 and i took 1. My case is simple febrile fit only. Hearing my collegue discuss his case with my collegue regarding his case, i just ignore it as i want to finished clerking as soon possible.

Then while giving neb to my friend's pt, noted worsening of grunting. I was distracted and couldn't continue my clerking. So i went near him and ask the condition of pt. Lucky enough my friend is my senior, that taught me during my 1st posting in surgery. So of course laa i trust him.

He tried to call MO oncall but claimed rejected. So after i update new case, immediately i called her. Alhamdulillah she answered my call. Update progress pt, then few minutes later she came. Decided for intubation. Prepare intubation set-ETT size 4, laryngoscope size 0 and 1, face mask, ambu bag, drugs- midazolam and morphine. Mida dilution 1mg in 1ml. Monitor baby's vital sign, then give 1mg midazolam, our poor 3mo baby girl safely intubated.

First time seeing baby being intubated since i enter paeds department. Next time i will ask permission to do procedure myself laa. Bagging him till 0515H, then was called and transferred to PICU. Bagging paeds x penat like bagging adult.

After taking blood CM, went to kopitiam sri cemerlang with my ON team mates. Talking for hours. Aku ni dahla mengantuk. Rasa nk letak je bantal baring kat situ. Hahaha. X dpt tidur a blink pun. EVEN A BLINK.

Balik rumah syahid. Bangun solat zohor pun kul 4. Nyawa2 ikan sempat 😋😄😅
